TCA makes its best efforts to keep that education within reach of as many families as reasonably possible. **Tuition covers only part of the cost of a TCA education.** TCA combines tuition, charitable giving, community support, careful budgeting, and responsible cost management so the full cost of educating a child is not passed on to families through tuition. **At this time, TCA does not receive any government funding and relies on tuition and donations to cover all operating expenses.** ## Tuition Covers Only Part of the Cost Operating a school requires qualified teachers and staff, curriculum and classroom materials, technology, utilities, insurance, building maintenance, student services, security, and many other essential expenses. The tuition charged to a family does not represent the full cost of providing these services. TCA uses several sources of support to meet these costs, including tuition and school fees, donations, fundraising, and broader community support. Together, these resources allow TCA to offset a portion of the cost of education rather than passing the entire amount on to families. ## What Determines Tuition? The price of tuition is shaped by three connected factors: the total cost of operating TCA, the amount of community support received through donations, and the number of students across whom the remaining cost is shared. **Total Cost to Operate TCA**Teachers and staff, facilities, curriculum, technology, utilities, insurance, security, and other school expenses. − **Donations & Community Support**Every donated dollar reduces the amount that must ultimately be recovered through tuition. = **Amount Tuition Must Cover**The remaining operating cost after community support is applied. ↓ **Amount Tuition Must Cover**The remaining cost of operating the school. ÷ **Number of Students**Enrollment determines how broadly the remaining cost can be shared across families. = **Tuition Need per Student**This financial pressure helps inform the tuition rates TCA must establish. **When operating costs rise ↑**More funding is needed, increasing pressure on tuition. **When donations rise ↓**More of the cost is covered by the community, reducing pressure on tuition. **When enrollment rises ↓**Shared costs are spread across more students, reducing the amount needed per student. This diagram illustrates the financial relationship that influences tuition; individual family obligations may differ because of financial assistance, sibling rates, grade-level policies, or other approved adjustments. ## How TCA Tuition Compares For the 2026–2027 school year, the national average private-school tuition is approximately **$14,943 per student**. The national average for private elementary schools is approximately **$13,957 per student**. TCA’s standard annual tuition is **$6,650 per student**. **$14,943**National private-school average **$13,957**National private elementary-school average **$6,650**TCA standard annual tuition TCA’s standard tuition is **$8,293 below the overall national private-school average—approximately 56% lower**. It is also **$7,307 below the national private elementary-school average—approximately 52% lower**. National figures are based on [Private School Review’s 2026–2027 national tuition data](https://www.privateschoolreview.com/tuition-stats/private-school-cost-by-state). Tuition varies by school type and location. ## The Role of Donations **A familiar comparison: how public schools are funded.** Public education has a cost, even though families do not receive a tuition bill to attend their local public school. Tax revenues help pay for teachers, buildings, classroom materials, and other school expenses, spreading the cost across the broader community. At TCA, donations play a similar cost-sharing role: they help cover school expenses and reduce the amount families must pay through tuition. The funding sources differ—taxes for public schools and voluntary donations alongside tuition at TCA—but both illustrate how community support helps make education accessible. Donations help TCA keep education accessible by reducing the amount of educational cost that must be collected from families through tuition. Contributions support the school’s affordability efforts and are administered responsibly in accordance with donor intent and school policies. TCA combines donations with tuition revenue and other school resources to provide **financial assistance** through reduced tuition and family-based support. Each family’s financial-assistance information is treated confidentially. ## Financial Assistance TCA recognizes that every family’s circumstances are different. Families who cannot afford the standard tuition may apply for financial assistance. Applications are reviewed individually, confidentially, and according to the school’s available resources and established guidelines. Financial-assistance awards reduce the tuition a family is responsible for paying. They are made possible by the combined support of TCA’s donors, families, volunteers, and community. ## 2024–2025 Financial Snapshot The following figures summarize TCA’s finances for the completed 2024–2025 school year. They show families what it costs to operate the school and how tuition and community support work together to make a TCA education possible. **$639,921**Total operating expenses **$451,349**Tuition collected **$188,572**Donations collected Amounts are rounded to the nearest dollar. Tuition covered $451,349 of TCA’s $639,921 in operating expenses. Donations supplied the remaining $188,572, helping TCA balance its operating costs without passing the full cost on to families through tuition. ## TCA Expenses This chart shows how TCA used its operating funds during the 2024–2025 school year. Most school expenses support the teachers and staff who educate, supervise, and care for our students each day. - **Personnel — $519,114 (81%)** Payroll, payroll-related taxes, and substitute or contract teaching costs - **Facilities and operations — $51,924 (8%)** Utilities, insurance, cleaning, maintenance, moving, water, and security - **Instruction and student programs — $48,811 (8%)** School supplies, books, student programs, events, and copies - **School administration and technology — $20,071 (3%)** Technology, professional services, fundraising, banking, communications, and other costs needed to operate the school **TCA’s Board of Directors is unpaid.** Board members volunteer their time and expertise in service to the school and community. No tuition or charitable funds are used to compensate board members for their board service. ## How Families and the Community Help Keeping tuition affordable requires a partnership. Families help by paying their agreed tuition on time. Donors support the school through donations and fundraising. TCA carefully manages staffing, facilities, and everyday operating expenses. Together, these efforts sustain TCA for our children and for future generations. When families pay tuition on time and community members contribute generously, TCA can continue offering a quality education at a cost far below the national private-school average. ## Your Support Makes a Difference Every contribution helps TCA maintain its programs, support its students, and limit the amount of educational cost passed on to families. By supporting TCA, donors are investing not only in individual students, but also in the long-term strength of values-based education in our community. --- ### [Tuition](https://thecrescentacademy.org/home-version-3/parent-guardian-info/tuition/) **Published:** December 19, 2025 **Author:** Misbah Qidwai **Content:** # Tuition Tuition and fees can be paid upfront at the start of the year or can be charged on a 12-month schedule. This penalty fee helps TCA offset the cost incurred each month tracking late accounts for each child and following up with the family. We recommend families [enroll in autopay](https://thecrescentacademy.org/home-version-3/parent-guardian-info/tuition/payment-of-dues/enroll-in-autopay/), to pay on time and avoid late fees. ### 2nd delinquency in a year for a child On the second instance that a tuition account is delinquent, or if an account has more than two months of accumulated tuition, the child’s bus will be stopped until a payment plan is shared that will bring the account current within the month. Payment plans must provide weekly installments to make the account current before the next installment is due. ### 3rd delinquency in a year for a child On the third tuition delinquency, the student will be subject to enrollment suspension or disenrollment for the remainder of the year. Any delinquent tuition and late fees must be paid before: - Registering for an upcoming school year. - Release of diplomas or any school records. --- ### [Financial Aid](https://thecrescentacademy.org/home-version-3/parent-guardian-info/tuition/financial-aid/) **Published:** December 19, 2025 **Author:** Misbah Qidwai **Content:** # Financial Aid ## Financial Aid Requirements The Financial Aid process determines eligibility. These can include annual tax returns, recent paystubs, bank statements, or other verifiable official documentation that demonstrates need. - Annual registration fee is due with each application. Financial aid may be revoked in the event of unsatisfactory payment history, student behavior or student academic performance. ## Monthly Payment Schedule Monthly tuition payments are due no later than the 28th of each month. All donations made to The Crescent Academy are tax deductible. As a non-profit, our goal is to simply break while serving our community. Your donations enable us to do this. We collect donations with two areas of fund application in mind: 1. **To offer financial aid** to families who qualify. To ensure fair distribution of financial funds, we collect income, family size and a need statement. This information helps determine if a family qualifies. In 2023, our generous donors covered a $140K shortfall in revenue, choosing to invest in our children’s future instead of sending their donations elsewhere. Because of this support, we were able to transform each dollar of donation into greater impact—providing nearly $250K in financial aid to about 90 children. 2. **To improve the quality of our academic programs**. This includes investing in our facility. In 2025, our generous donors shared $1.5M of their wealth to enable us to purchase a new building at 1112 Broad St., Endicott. This new building broadly enhanced our academic, sports, young leadership and talent programs, while allowing us to serve 30% more (~90) children from under privileged families. Future donations towards this cause will be used towards: 1. Continue to bring the new facility into good repair condition: - Water heater and main repairs - Electrical upgrade - Flooring repairs - Parking lot repair - HVAC repairs - Science lab gas line restoration 2. Setup a Daycare 3. Kitchen startup to provide meals to children 4. Expanded academic offerings (evening classes, youth leadership program and sports) 5. Facility upgrades - Signage update - Security cameras - Projector & audio/visual updates - Prayer space update - Conf room upgrade - Speaker/bell announcement system upgrade - School bus [**See how donations help offset the cost of educating TCA students.**](https://thecrescentacademy.org/home-version-3/parent-guardian-info/tuition/how-tca-finances-work/) To donate to The Crescent Academy, please contact: . When contacting the Office of the Ombudsman, you have choice of contacting either: - A board member who serves as the Internal Ombudsman; or - An External Ombudsman Parties should use the form below to contact the current Ombudsman. Only one ombudsman should be contacted for each concern. Multiple submissions will default to one ombudsman. Concerns should include sufficient factual detail to permit meaningful review, including, where applicable: - Dates and approximate times - Locations - Names of individuals involved - Names of witnesses willing to be contacted - Relevant documents, photographs, recordings, correspondence, police reports, court filings, or other independently verifiable information The Ombudsman may decline to pursue concerns that are speculative, conclusory, unsupported by sufficient factual detail, or outside the Ombudsman’s scope. ## Good-Faith Reporting The Ombudsman process exists to assist in resolving genuine concerns and improving the school community. Individuals submitting concerns are expected to do so in good faith and provide information they reasonably believe to be accurate. Knowingly false, misleading, retaliatory, or harassing submissions are inconsistent with the purpose of this process and may be disregarded. ## The role of the Ombudsman The Ombudsman serves as a confidential, neutral, and independent resource to help members of the school community address concerns, resolve conflicts, and better understand available options. The Ombudsman does not take sides or advocate for any individual party; rather, the goal is to ensure concerns are heard and to help facilitate fair and constructive solutions. ## When to Contact the Ombudsman You may wish to reach out to the Ombudsman if you: - Have a concern about a school policy, decision, or process - Feel that a situation has not been resolved through normal channels - Need guidance on how to address a conflict or misunderstanding - Would like a confidential place to discuss a sensitive issue - Are unsure about what options are available to you ## Personnel matters Personnel matters, employment disputes, hiring decisions, compensation decisions, performance evaluations, disciplinary matters, and allegations regarding employee qualifications, background, or conduct are generally reviewed directly by the Board of Directors and are not part of the Ombudsman process. Individuals with information relevant to such matters should contact the Board directly and provide sufficient detail and supporting evidence to permit review. ## Escalation The Ombudsman’s office is committed to resolving concerns at the most appropriate level and as quickly as possible. In most cases, concerns can and should be addressed directly with those closest to the situation. It is recommended that before contacting the Ombudsman, families follow this process: 1. Teacher Level (First Step) - Contact your child’s teacher directly to discuss the concern. - Many issues can be resolved quickly through direct communication. 2. Principal Level (Second Step) - If the matter is not resolved, escalate to the school principal. - The principal will review the concern and work toward a resolution. 3. Ombudsman (Final Step) - The Ombudsman should be contacted only after reasonable efforts have been made at the teacher and principal levels, and the concern remains unresolved. In situations involving serious concerns (e.g., safety, misconduct, or matters where direct communication may not be appropriate), families may contact the Ombudsman directly. ## What the Ombudsman Can Do The Ombudsman can: - Listen to your concerns in a confidential setting - Help clarify policies, procedures, and expectations - Explore possible options for addressing your concern - Facilitate communication or informal resolution where appropriate - Identify patterns or systemic issues that may need attention ## What the Ombudsman Does Not Do The Ombudsman does not: - Replace formal grievance or disciplinary procedures - Make binding decisions or enforce outcomes - Serve as legal counsel or formal investigator - Maintain permanent records of confidential conversations ## Identified Submissions Required To ensure fairness, accountability, and the ability to conduct meaningful reviews, individuals submitting concerns through the Ombudsman process must identify themselves and provide valid contact information. Anonymous submissions are not accepted through the Ombudsman process and will not be treated as Ombudsman complaints. The Ombudsman may request additional information or documentation before determining whether a matter is appropriate for Ombudsman review. Individuals submitting concerns are expected to do so in good faith and provide information they reasonably believe to be accurate. The Ombudsman process requires identified submissions. Individuals wishing to provide anonymous feedback may use the Feedback page. Anonymous feedback is reviewed for informational purposes and is not treated as a formal Ombudsman complaint. ## Individual Submissions The Ombudsman process is intended to address concerns raised by individuals or families who are directly affected by a matter or who possess firsthand knowledge of relevant events. Concerns submitted through the Ombudsman process must be presented by the individual raising the concern. Individuals should not submit concerns on behalf of unnamed third parties or represent the views, experiences, or observations of others unless they have been expressly written authorized to do so. Such written authorization must be presented along with the concern, if a proxy approach is chosen. Concerns should be submitted by the individual bringing the concern rather than as a group petition, coordinated campaign, or collective statement. The Ombudsman may request to speak directly with individuals who have personal knowledge of the matter in order to better understand the facts and circumstances involved. The Ombudsman is best able to evaluate concerns when information is received directly from the individuals with firsthand knowledge of the matter. Direct participation allows for clarification of facts, follow-up questions, assessment of credibility, and a fair review of the information presented. If multiple individuals share a concern, each person is encouraged to submit their own statement and participate directly in the review process. This helps ensure that every voice is heard accurately and that concerns are evaluated based on firsthand information rather than secondhand reports, assumptions, or summaries. Concerns based primarily on rumor, speculation, social media discussions, secondhand reports, or information relayed through others are generally difficult to investigate and may not be actionable. Individuals are encouraged to provide specific facts, dates, witnesses, documents, photographs, recordings, or other independently verifiable information whenever possible. The Ombudsman’s role is to evaluate concerns based on facts and evidence rather than popularity, consensus, or the number of individuals expressing a similar view. ## Confidentiality Communications with the Ombudsman are treated with discretion and confidentiality to the fullest extent reasonably possible. Information may be shared with individuals who have a legitimate need to know in order to evaluate, investigate, or address a concern, or where disclosure is required by law or necessary to prevent serious harm. ## Contacting the Ombudsman If you would like to speak with the Ombudsman, please reach out using the contact form below. When contacting the Ombudsman, please include: - Your name, email and phone number - A summary of the concern - Steps already taken (teacher and/or principal communication) - Relevant dates and documentation, witnesses, documents, photographs, recordings, police reports, court filings, or other independently verifiable evidence. - Your role in the school community (student, parent, staff, etc.) This helps ensure a timely and effective review. Rental contributions go directly towards keeping our programs affordable and help support our financial aid program. Together, we turn every rental into an investment for the children in our community. As a nonprofit, our goal is not to generate profit but to simply break even while serving our community. In 2023, our generous donors covered a $140K shortfall in revenue, choosing to invest in our children’s future instead of sending their donations elsewhere. Because of this support, we were able to transform each dollar of donation into greater impact—providing nearly $250K in financial aid to about 90 children. When you host your event at your community’s school, not only will you be able to host your event, but you will also be supporting children’s education—and earning their heartfelt prayers along the way. May you be rewarded abundantly. Amen. **Note:** Please be mindful, we are not a banquet hall and this is not our primary business activity. This means renting space from us does not include: - Catering - Event staffing - Event management - Ticketed entertainment run by the school **Cafeteria** ![]( "IMG_2635") ![]( "IMG_3013") ![](
